Rick has a background in television production, cultural anthropology and medical technology. Rick’s 20-year media career has allowed him to explore an array of interests such as action sports, science and history by exposing him to the iconoclasts who influence their respective fields. Rick currently works at Oregon Health Science University producing creative videos for all departments of the hospital and university. He lives in a rural area of Oregon with his wife and childhood sweetheart, April, and their blended family of four children. He enjoys surfing, travelling and spending time with his family.

Ziquan is a college student studying at Minerva, a Keck Graduate Institute school. Part of the foundation of an undergraduate education at Minerva is becoming exposed to a diversity of global cultures. Students at Minerva are required to live in seven different cities around the world throughout their undergraduate studies. Four years of global cultural immersion builds character and attracts bright young minds like Ziquan who are eager to learn. The Z-Team is lucky to have Ziquan as our international ambassador and media content producer.
ErinChair of Outreach
Erin came to the Z-Team after relocating to the West Coast from New York where she was Program Coordinator for a STEM education program at Ithica College. She's a wizard at project management and organization, and she loves working in academia.
Carl is a retired Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at Portland State University who specializes in photovoltaic membranes and fuel cell energy storage. He earned degrees in chemistry from Brown University and Caltech, and was faculty at Cal State Fullerton. Carl brings many years of solar energy research and development to the Z-Team and we're stoked to have him on board.
AlexandraMedia Advisor and Field Reporter
Alexandra is a chemist working in a geology lab at Portland State University. When she's not mixing chemicals and analyzing data, she might be working as an extra on a movie set or shooting targets with a bow and arrow.
RobMechanical and Materials Engineering Advisor
Rob is a professor of engineering at Oregon Institute of Technology and was faculty at Portland State University prior. At PSU he was faculty advisor for the student run motorsports club where they built their own formula one race car. Rob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering and in materials science.
